SuperDry: First store in Thailand

One of the latest addition for shopping in Thailand is SuperDry. This trendy and young casual-fashion brand opened its first store at Siam Center, Bangkok last January. The store is located near the main entrance of the mall and has a spacious space compared to the two stores at Jakarta. There are national flags of United Kingdom and Japan at one of the display that can explain about the identity and character of this brand. This brand is coming from UK but has Japanese style graphic and design that are loud in colors and Japanese characters detail. Another interesting objects found are the birds that are made of paper using the origami technique, a Japanese art tradition of folding papers into various objects.

Jaspal: Bon voyage

After talking about Jaspal Group's stores at the previous posts, now it is the time to post about the main and the first business of this local Thai fashion-retailer. Opened at 1976, Jaspal is now having more than 30 stores in Thailand and 4 stores in Malaysia and offering men and women ready-to-wear collection. Jaspal stores at Siam Center might become the biggest one, so far after I saw other boutiques at different malls, with very spacious window display. The theme of the window is now about sailing on a big ship. Men mannequins look operate the ship from the main deck, while the women are posing gracefully at the other part of the 'ship'. In between the men and women window display spaces, there is a see-through-the-store part and there are a group of bear dolls. Those dolls are dressed by the local Thai artists and become a very nice and interesting point of attention.

Lyn Around: Doll House

Amidst the edgy and high tech somewhat too-innovative environment of Siam Center, there is a cute girly French style boutique. It is one of the Lyn Around boutiques, a women ready-to-wear brand that is surprisingly local Thailand, that are spreading around Bangkok. The window display might be very simple with only some female mannequins posing in front of the boudoir style screens. However, combined with the exterior of the boutique and also some rainbow-colored-stickers of clouds, this store looks outstanding and very eye-catchy. Two thumbs up for Jaspal Group that owns this brand.

Wonder Anatomie: Horror

Siam Center is a pioneer of hip and trendy shopping mall in Bangkok. It had been renovated and turned into a very modern artistic edgy shopping malls. Besides the well known international fashion brands, it is also housing the popular local fashion brands and stores. One of them is the Wonder Anatomie that sells a very edgy conceptual collection that can compete with the wildest designers of London. There is nothing special at the window display since there is only a group of mannequins standing on it. However, turn your head up to the ceiling of the store and your heart will shrink. Amidst the light brown color of dry leaves or something, human skeletons are crawling around. It is a very surprisingly creative, excellent, and magnificent concept that, once again, can be competed with those mega department stores from London or New York City. Salute to the creator.

I had a full week vacation to Bangkok last week. This tourist packed city might be popular with its amazing and opulence Grand Palace and other grandeur temples around it but it also has mega malls with luxury boutiques and fashionable stores inside. At the infamous shopping belt of Bangkok or can be called Siam area, there are Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon that surround a newly renovated Siam Center, the pioneer of trendy fashion mall in this City of Angels. Few blocks from Siam, the biggest mall in Thailand that is Central World offers, and also overdoses, you varieties of fashion stores and dining experiences. Across the street, the magnificent Erawan Shrine with its famous Four Buddha Faces statue is standing infront of a little luxury empire, Erawan that is a part of Grand Hyatt Bangkok. Finally, Emporium at Sukhumvit might be old and small but it has the biggest Hermes boutique in Thailand and the quiet Gaysorn is still be able to attract even a group of Chinese tourists to shop like it is the end of the world.
