Galeries Lafayette: Welcome to Jakarta

Indonesia might be so proud to become the first country, and city-for Jakarta-, where Galeries Lafayette expands its wings in the Asia continent. This most famous French department store has opened its door since the month of May at Pacific Place, South Jakarta. It occupies four stories of the mall and carries complete range of products from beauty, men and women ready-to-wear, accessories, etc. Last night, I visited this dept. store for the first time and took photo of the window displays. Each floor and each entrance has their own window displays. Each of them tells the same story or concept that is about French style. Take an example of a window that features a female mannequin in very grace and elegance pose. It is standing on a small table next to a window, that has Opera Garnier room inside, and a stumble classic French chair. Next to it, another mannequin stands in, again, a table, next to, again, a window, that reveals a neighborhood in the corner of Paris with Eiffel Tower standing on a far, plus, again, a stumble chair. Hope, the upcoming window display will be more creative and has more variations to avoid boredom, at least for me.

On Pedder: New look

On Pedder boutique has just renovated its look both exterior and interior. The window display part is now bigger than before although it has no wall to separate it from the inner part of the boutique. Mind blowing graphic motifs in black and white fill the glass window. Inside, the special window installation is installed to celebrate the coming of Nicholas Kirkwood in the grand re-opening event of this boutique last week. The right side of the window is occupied by torso mannequins but now they are wearing black and white 'bodysuit' to cover the shoulder until torso part.

Fendi: Horse

 Takashimaya Ngee Ann City

 Plaza Indonesia

Horse is now becoming the main decoration inside every Fendi boutiques around the world. They are made of metal with metallic silver tone shining under the spot light. In Singapore, Fendi Takashimaya at Ngee Ann City has the big horse in its windows, unfortunately I took only one window that has the back part of the horse. Mini horse heads decorate the wall of Fendi window display at Plaza Indonesia. They are lining up in triangle formation.

Thomas Pink: Welcome to Jakarta

Old style tailor mannequins are lining up with surfing boards and ice cream on their hands plus swimming goggles are on their head. The other corner display shows two mannequins catching fishes, perhaps tuna, with snorkeling goggles on their head. To strengthen the summery and nautical feeling, white sea birds are flying around in the window ceiling. The surfing boards, fishes, and birds are made of balloons while the ice cream inside the cone is ties in colorful tones. These are the depiction of Thomas Pink window display that is surprisingly fun and playful compared to the main commodity of this London-based brand. By the way, this shirt store is the first in Jakarta and in South East Asia.

From London

Whenever my friends go abroad for traveling or business meeting, I always ask them, if they have time, to take photos of unique window displays according to them or they will ask some particulars brands I want. Recently, one of them went to London for business trip and gave me this two excellent quality photo.

The first one is Louis Vuitton window display from this brand's maison flagship boutique at Old Bond Street. The display is so terrific and magnificent since the properties are dinosaurs, the bones actually. One photo he gave me is featuring a female mannequin sitting on the back of a stegosaur. The metallic gold bones match with the luxurious feel of this boutique. Observe it closely and you can find the mannequin is actually holding a rope that tied in the dino's neck. Amazing.

The second photo was taken from Hermes boutique, again, at Old Bond Street. Compared to other Hermes windows I ever saw, this one is so simple but still very beautiful. On the main part of the window, two mannequins are standing in a bright yellow fields to play badminton - there are some rackets and shuttlecocks. White pigeons flying around them or just sitting at the rackets, strengthening the relaxed and serene feeling of this display.

Louis Vuitton: Hot air balloons, part 2

 Plaza Senayan

 Plaza Indonesia

The Gardens Mall - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Louis Vuitton hot air balloons window display is very uniform in the arrangement that it is almost impossible to find the distinct composition one another. In this post, I would like to share some of the window displays arrangement that look interesting instead of boring. One corner display at Louis Vuitton Plaza Senayan shows the mini hot air balloons surround a giant LV scarf featuring map of the world image. This scarf is the best properties that might indicate the traveling character of this brand. Louis Vuitton Plaza Indonesia always has mannequins on the window since it is carrying ready-to-wear collection. The women window has the same look as what I posted before, but the men one is so ordinary. My friend from Kuala Lumpur emailed me the Louis Vuitton The Gardens window display that has more hot air balloons compared to the displays I see in Jakarta. Hope, Louis Vuitton HQ VM will create more spectacular and not ordinary display next time.

Hermes: Shuttlecocks, part 2

When I observed on my Singapore photos, I found another set of Hermes window display photos from the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. The concept is still the same with the Takashimaya boutique's.

Mannequins pose

 Prada

Ermenegildo Zegna
 Dior

One element that is impossible not to be associated with window display is the existence of the mannequins. There are many design, type, look, color of them and can be arranged to do certain poses just standing in the middle of the properties. Prada's mannequins are acting very femininely but still elegance. Zegna's male mannequins are 'trapped' in a mirrored cage or boxes yet they still look cool but somehow too metrosexual. Talking about the size, Dior use a very tiny mannequins, can be called a doll too actually, besides her life size mannequins as usual.
