Gingersnaps: Exotic birds

Gingersnaps is perhaps the only children wear and maternity clothing store that has a serious concepted window display theme and concept. ust look at its latest display that shows the scenery of a tropical forest or garden? The beautiful pink flamingo that stands near a mannequin has the delicate pinky feathers, while the big parrot bird, looking so exotic, nestles in a tree branch. The environment around them are carefully made in a surprisingly detail result for example a big stone covered with green mosses. Spectacular!

Pull & Bear: Map of the world in 3D

Pull and Bear might be only a fast fashion label for the young at hear people, but it has a serious concept of window display that can compete with those high end fashion houses. Map of the world become the concept for this season's display. This map, however, is made of layers of wood that are carefully and excellently set to look like a 3D map. There are original-design-aeroplanes, also made of wood, flying around in the ceiling to add the spirit of travel. I hope to find another continent map from other Pull & Bear stores in Jakarta.

Early Learning Center: Summer Fun on the Beach

Summer holiday (plus Islamic New Year holiday) already reaches its end for Indonesia from today with many offices, including mine, are starting open normally. However, the memory of the holiday will still remain on our head, and also on the photos of course. If you went to the beach on the last holiday, this Early Learning Center window display will make you miss the fun you experienced there. As it is a shop selling children educational toys and other equipments, the main object shown on the display is of course that goodies aforementioned. They are set and displayed in a very excellent arrangement as if we are on the beach side, playing with our children, and get dirty with the sands. I do not need to explain any further about the detail as you can observe from the photos above. Enjoy!

Chanel: Gloomy

Chanel is one of big French fashion brands that perhaps has a big big big marketing budget thanks to excellent number of profit from selling its bags and other accessories as well as perfume, Chanel No. 5 for sure. Every season, a mega fashion show with the most amazing decor and setting you could imagine is always held at Grand Palais during the Paris Fashion Week. Also, on the bridge season of resort and pre-fall, editors, clientele, and important buyers are taken to every corner of the world to see the fashion show. This Pre-Fall 2013 season, the ruins of Linlithgow Palace, outside Edinburgh, Scotland, becomes the dramatic set for the show that features Karl Lagerfeld's favorite models like Stella Tenant, Cara Delevingne, as well as Brad Kroenig with his cute little son. This show is now being used, as always, to become the inspiration for the window display. Mannequins wearing the immaculate tweed jackets stand in front of the giant image of the palace. Thick candles are everywhere around them, adding a mysterious atmosphere upon the dark scenery.

Alun - Alun Indonesia: Betawi culture

Jakarta, the capital city of Idonesia, will celebrate its 486th anniversary on June 22, 2013. There are many activities being held to anticipate this birthday like Festival Jakarta Great Sale 2013, Midnight Sale festival (some kind of Fashion Night Out), and also cultural parade and music entertainment at Monas, one of Jakarta's iconic monument. Besides those events, hundreds of shopping malls throughout Jakarta also decorate their building or corridors with decorations inspired by the Betawi culture - Betawi is the original tribe of Jakarta people. One example can be seen via Alun - Alun Indonesia window display that looks very Betawi.

Near the main entrance of Alun - Alun Indonesia, the window is occupied by a mannequin with traditional women outfit called kebaya encim. Near this beautiful stuff, there is a wooden peacock statue with feathers made of paper decorations usually used at Betawi ceremonial events. Two half faces of 'ondel - ondel', a traditional Betawi giant puppets, are hung at the ceiling to add the festivities.

The second window display of Alun - Alun is occupied by a kerak telor food stall. Kerak telor is one of Betawi famous culinary that is made mainly of duck eggs with other ingredients such as shredded dried coconut. The stall constructed on the display is very traditional one that perhaps no longer can be found. There is also a male mannequin wearing white T-shirt with Jakarta name on it, standing near, once again, the faces of ondel - ondel.

Hope this post can inform you visitors about my beloved city, Jakarta. If there is anyone here can explain more about the stuffs on my photos, I express my gratitude in advance.

Chanel: Turning Japonism

Being different and exclusive among the other luxury brands, Chanel is doing a Japanese theme imagery both for its campaign images and also the window display concept. Wooden frames and doors with natural color screens and also floor covered with tatami is the main objects we can find. The other properties are modern looking and make you want to buy them. Last and the most important thing is the Spring/Summer 2013 collection that looks more vibrant and young at heart. The unique interpretation of the Chanel classic bag, the one with the round frame, is also put in the lap of the mannequins.
